IRVINE, Calif. – The CUI Track and Field team had a thrilling day of competition across two meets on Thursday, March 28th, at the Vince O'Boyle Invitational in Irvine and the Mangrum Invitational. With several school records shattered and top finishes across multiple events, the Golden Eagles showcased their strength and talent as they continue to build on this season.
Mangrum Invitational Highlights
At the Mangrum Invitational, CUI athletes had a remarkable day. Parker Williams set a new school record in the men's 110m hurdles with a time of 14.18 seconds, claiming 1st place in the event. Joshua Collier followed with a school-record performance in the men's 400m hurdles, finishing in 53.60 seconds to take 1st place. Jori Paradis also had a strong showing, running a season-best time of 4:28.64 in the women's 1500m, securing 1st place and further solidifying her strong season.
Vince O'Boyle Invitational Highlights
At the Vince O'Boyle Invitational, the Golden Eagles continued their impressive performances. In the men's hammer throw, Trey Vergenz set a new school record with a throw of 55.04 meters.
The women's hammer throw also saw strong results for CUI, with Khaiya Simpson leading the way with a throw of 45.89 meters, followed by Tayla Crenshaw with 44.70 meters, Ashley Heyer with 44.07 meters, and Whitney Griffith with 40.56 meters, all delivering solid marks in a competitive field.
In the women's long jump, Jasmyn Crawford finished 3rd with a leap of 6.18 meters, continuing her impressive form this season.
The women's javelin throw saw another school record for CUI, as Whitney Griffith set a new mark with a throw of 40.18 meters, further adding to her remarkable season.
Looking Ahead
The Golden Eagles continue to show their strength across multiple events, with numerous school With multiple school records set and numerous top finishes across both meets, the CUI Track and Field team is making great strides as they progress through the season. The Golden Eagles are excited for Day 2 of the Vince O'Boyle Invitational, which begins tomorrow at 10:00 AM.
