LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The CUI Track and Field team had a successful day at the Oxy Distance Carnival and Ben Brown Invitational on Saturday, March 8th. With standout performances across multiple events, several athletes set personal bests and moved up in the conference rankings.
Ben Brown Invitational Highlights
Lucas Grunden ran an impressive 1:53.42 in the 800m at the Ben Brown Invitational, setting a new personal best and earning the 2nd place spot in the PacWest standings.
Oxy Distance Carnival and Spring Break Classic Highlights
For the women's 800m, Priscella Gomez ran a 2:23.06, a personal best that moved her up to 10th in the PacWest.
In the men's 800m, Noah Plaza ran 1:57.81, placing 7th in the PacWest, while Fernando Aguirre finished in 4:03.21 and Colin Bervig in 4:03.24 in the men's 1500m.
The women's 5k saw solid results from Jori Paradis, who ran 17:08.79, followed by Emily Littlefield with 17:44.74 and Claudia Vera finishing in 17:58.61.
In the men's 5k, Moises Benito ran a strong 14:59.48, placing 8th in the conference, and Spencer Handorf followed closely with 15:00.09, securing the 9th spot in the conference.
The CUI Track and Field team continues to build on their performances as the season progresses. With several personal bests and top finishes, the Golden Eagles are poised for continued success.
The next meet for CUI Track and Field will be Thursday, March 13, at Orange Coast College at 11:00 AM.
