Irvine, Calif. - Pablo de Souza, a junior on the men's water polo squad, earned the Western Water Polo Association defensive player of the week. The Golden Eagles recently competed at the Redlands Invite, playing four games and winning two of them. De Souza was a critical component of the Golden Eagles performance this past weekend.
Pablo de Souza spent a total of 125 minutes tending to the goal, and had a total of 46 saves. De Souza also had a season-high of saves against Claremont-Mudd-Scripps, and totaled 16 saves. While he was defending the goal, he also tallied up six steals and two assists to add to his statline. With a .500 save percentage over the weekend in Redlands, he made a season-high 16 stops against No. 18 UC Santa Barbara and 11 in the win over DI Iona. De Souza has logged double-digit saves in six of eight appearances in 2025.
