IRVINE, Calif.- Concordia University Irvine senior midfielder Elle Soleau has been named the PacWest Player of the Week after a standout performance in the Golden Eagles' 4-0 victory over Northwest Nazarene.
Soleau made her mark early in the match by assisting on CUI's opening goal in the 17th minute, setting the tone for the Golden Eagles' dominant day. She later added a goal of her own in the 83rd minute to close the win.
A transfer from the University of San Diego, Soleau has quickly become a major contributor for CUI. Through her first five games, she has scored three goals and added an assist, playing a major role in the team's strong start. She netted the game-winning goal in just her second match as a Golden Eagle, a 2-0 win at Cal State Dominguez Hills on Sept. 10. She then followed with another strike in a 1-1 draw against Cal State San Marcos before her most recent goal against Northwest Nazarene.
With her experience, composure in the midfield, and ability to deliver in key moments, Soleau has proven to be a valuable addition to the CUI roster this season.
CUI plays Cal State Monterey Bay to close out its road trip up north and then returns to action for its PacWest Conference opener on Saturday, Oct. 4 against Dominican. Match time is 12 p.m. PT
