IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University Irvine men's volleyball put together a balanced offensive performance taking the series against Menlo with their second straight win with scores 25-20, 25-19, 23-25, and 25-18.
Logan Whitaker was a central piece of the Golden Eagles who led CUI with 18 kills on a .306 hitting percentage while digging up six from the back row. Whitaker also led with three aces and three solo blocks for the Golden Eagles. This marks the fourth consecutive game where he has reached double digit in kills.
The outside hitters both added another major scoring option for Concordia.
Christian Galoppo finished with 13 kills while hitting .440 while
Myles Henderson continued the offensive momentum with 14 kills on .375 hitting percentage.
Middle blocker
Nathan Habermas delivered one of the most efficient performances recording five kills on nine attempts with no errors for a strong .556 hitting percentage. Habermas was also effective at the net with four block assists.
Paul Schulteis played an efficient role in the middle tallying six kills and added two service aces.
Running the offense was setter
Matt Fisher who reached a career-high of 48 assists. The freshman also contributed four block assists and a team-high eight digs all while helping CUI maintain rhythm offensively throughout the match. Defensively, Concordia libero
Joseph Nunez led the back row with seven digs and added three assists.
CUI moved to 5-11 overall with a 2-3 record in the MPSF conference. The Green and Gold took the first meeting on
Friday night with a 3-0 sweep over the Oaks.
The Golden Eagles will be back in the CU Arena Thursday Mar. 7 as they take on No. 5 USC with a 6 p.m. start time.
