IRVINE, Calif. - Concordia University Irvine women's basketball is set to host two Prospect Camps this summer, bringing together high-level trainers, current and former players, and athletes from across the region for an experience built to challenge, teach, and develop the next generation of players.
The camps will be held on Monday, June 29th and Friday, August 7th in the CU Arena on Concordia's campus.
Under the direction of head coach
Christine Collins-Kiernan and the CUI coaching staff, the camps are designed to be far more than a typical summer basketball event. The focus is on real player development, basketball IQ, confidence, communication, and creating an environment where athletes can compete while learning how to grow through the process.
Campers will work through detailed skill development sessions led by elite basketball trainers while also taking part in defensive clinics, small-sided games, controlled scrimmages, and mental performance sessions focused on confidence and failure recovery. Every drill and teaching segment is designed to translate directly into live game situations and help players better understand how to impact winning basketball.
Current and former CUI players — including professional players continuing their careers at the next level — will also be on the floor throughout camp, giving athletes an opportunity to learn from players who have experienced the journey firsthand.
"This camp has a real purpose behind it," said Collins-Kiernan. "We want players to leave our gym better than they walked in — more confident, more skilled, more connected, and with a clearer understanding of what it takes to grow."
The camps have also become an important part of the program's recruiting process. In the last two recruiting classes alone, nine of CUI's last 11 freshman signees attended prospect camp before joining the program. The Golden Eagles' current
PacWest Freshman of the Year was first identified by the Concordia coaching staff after attending camp last summer.
Throughout camp, athletes will have opportunities for on-court interaction with the coaching staff, Q&A sessions with current and former players, and live teaching environments that emphasize communication, toughness, energy, and celebrating small wins.
Each camper will also receive a camp shirt and a post-camp evaluation mailed following camp with feedback and areas for continued growth.
Registration for both camps is now open.
