Eagles take two wins

Women's Tennis defeats Dominican College

On Monday morning, the Eagles hosted Dominican University for another conference match. CUI defeated the Penguins with the score of 6-3, extending their overall record to 5-3 this season.

In singles, at the top of the roster, Anastasiia Kuprina (CUI) picked up a win over Rickimae Torres (DU) with the score of 6-3, 6-1. Johanna Keeline (CUI) defeated a freshman Savannah Gray 6-1, 6-2. At the No. 4 spot, Samantha Schuster captured another win for the Eagles with the score of 6-2, 3-6, 6-4. Ghada Al-ajeely also went through a three sets battle and defeated her opponent 6-4,1-6, 6-3. To finish the singles competition, Kathrine Jensen battled for three hours and picked up a win with the score of 4-6 7-6 6-2 at the No. 6 spot.

In doubles,  Pakbaten and Keeline did not  drop a single game, and earned a win for the Eagles with the score of 8-0.

CUI vs Villanova University

Just a day later, Women's Tennis competed against Div. I Villanova University. Last year, the Eagles defeated Villanova 5-4; however, this year the Wildcats were stronger and picked up a 7-2 win over CUI.

Atthe  No. 1 spot, Anastasiia Kuprina (CUI) defeated a freshman Lexi DeNucci (VU) 7-6, 6-3 and at No. 3 spot, Johanna Keeline (CUI) picked up  win against a junior Lindsey Evans (VU) with the score of 3-6, 6-4, 6-3.

Concordia bounces back against Holy Names

Following the two game matches, Concordia hit the road for three-straight road games. Although they fell to Sonoma State and Academy of Art University, CUI bounced back to defeat Holy Names 8-1. 

Concordia won five-of-six single games and all in two sets. The Eagles swept doubles competition, winning all three. Pakbaten and Al-Ajeely won the No. 1 flight 8-1. Schuster and Keeline earned an 8-2 victory and Kurpina and Glock closed it with an 8-5 win. 

The Eagles are now 6-6 and 5-4 in conference play. Tuesday March 13, CUI will go against the Cal State Los Angeles Golden Eagles beginning at 10 a.m. Earlier this year, Concordia defeated CSULA 5-4.
