IRVINE, Calif. – The Concordia University, Irvine Women's Tennis team competed against Biola University on April 6th and UCSD on April 9th with final scores of 8-1 and 4-5, respectively.
The Eagles traveled to Biola Thursday and left with a proud win. CUI was victorious in every singles competition with strong performances from Anastasiia Kuprina (6-1, 6-1), Ghazal Pakbaten (6-3, 6-2), Johanna Keeline (6-0, 6-0), Samantha Schuster (6-2, 6-2), Ghada Al-Akeely (6-0, 6-4) and Kathrine Jensen (6-2, 6-2).
Doubles team Schuster and Kuprina came out on top with a score of 8-6. Keeline and Pakbaten took away another win for the Eagles with a score of 8-0. The last doubles competition was hard fought, but lost.
Following the game against Biola, the Eagles hosted UCSD in Newport Beach on Monday, April 9th. CUI went half and half in the singles competition, coming out with three wins from Ghazal Pakbaten, Ghada Al-ajeely and Kathrine Jensen. Duo Anastasiia Kuprina and Samantha Schuster bested their competition 8-6 in doubles, but it wasn't enough to reclaim the game over the No. 16 Tritons.
Coming up: The Eagles have one more home game Thursday, April 12th vs. Westmont College at 11 a.m. before they head to Surprise, Ariz. for the conference tournament.
