IRVINE, Calif. – Three members of the Concordia University Irvine stunt squad were named DII All-Americans this week by the College STUNT division of USA Cheer.
The talented trio includes
MacKenzie Feeken who was one of only 16 female student-athletes named to the DII First Team. An English major with a minor in psychology, Feeken recently accepted the 2019 Eagle Award
during CUI's Senior Banquet, after graduating with a 3.7 GPA.
Joining Feeken in this rarified air are her teammates
Makenna Cox and
Joanna Rivers who were both named DII Second Team All-Americans for the second straight year.
"It was incredibly humbling," said Rivers. "It reminded me of all the hard work and team support we received during our season. My teammates are the primary source of my success; they push me to be the best version of myself. And the fact that we had three teammates make All-American this season is a true demonstration of our commitment and diligence for our sport. It's such an honor."
"I am extremely proud of these three girls and their athletic performance this season," said CUI head coach
Amy Haney. "They were vital to our success and have set the bar not only for their skills on the mat but their leadership and character in areas off the mat as well."Â
For all three CUI student-athletes,
this marks the second straight year they were named All-Americans. In 2018, Feeken also made the First Team, with Cox and Rivers joining
Kayce De Leon on the Second Team squad.
