SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif. - The Concordia University Irvine stunt team flew down for Cal Poly's first ever, Mustang Stampede at Motts Athletics Center. The visiting Golden Eagles captured a perfect score against UC Davis and went 1-2 on the weekend.
On opening day, the stunt team fell to Jessup 10-17 on Friday morning. Stunt is broken down into four quarters: partner stunts, pyramids & tosses, jumps & tumbling, and a final team routine, which is a combination of the other three quarter routines. The scores for each quarter were as follows: 1-3, 1-4, 3-3, and 5-7.
Day two was more promising for Concordia. The Golden Eagles collected their second perfect score of the season against UC Davis Saturday morning. This marks the third perfect score for stunt in the DII era!
The Green and the Gold brought the energy to the final showdown against tournament host Cal Poly. The two teams were tied 4-4 going into the half. Cal Poly broke ahead in jumps and tumbling with an additional three points.
Despite outperforming the Mustangs in the fourth quarter, Concordia couldn't bridge the gap and lost 10-12.
The scores for each quarter were as follows: 2-2, 2-2, 4-1, and 4-5.
NEXT UP: The Concordia stunt team competes at home on Friday, April 11 at 6 pm. The Golden Eagles will be honoring their seniors at the last competition of the season. Be there or be square!
