Box Score 4 IRVINE, Calif.- CUI women's tennis went 2-2 as they traveled to Fresno and the Bay Area from Monday, March 2 to Friday, March 6.
Match vs. FPU- The women competed well against #23 ranked Fresno Pacific but were unable to secure the win as the final score was 3-4. The CUI doubles teams sweep the Sunbirds and earn one point. The number one and two spots fought hard, but the Sunbirds earned their first two points there.
Lisa Suzuki and
Taylor Lau were able to win their singles matches to earn two more points for the Eagles. Sunbirds were able to take the win as their number four and six spots both won.
The two battles in the bay were victorious for CUI as they beat ART U 4-3 and swept HNU 7-0.
Match vs. ART U- CUI started strong earning the doubles point and then kept the momentum going in singles as
Rebekah Anderson, Lau and
Lou Perrot all won their singles matches to help contribute to the win.
Match vs. HNU- It was winners all around for CUI as both
Ghazal Pakbaten and Anderson won their doubles and singles matches. Same went for Lau and
Lisa Suzuki. Kjersti Strandess made the appearance in the number 5 spot and won her singles match helping end the match 7-0.
Match vs. Sonoma- The Eagles fought hard in their match ups but fell short to Sonoma State 2-5. Pakbaten with Anderson and Suzuki with Lau both competed well but lost their doubles matches 4-6 leading the Seawolves to earn the doubles point. Anderson and Lau were able to earn two points for the Eagles in their singles match ups. Sonoma State secured the match with four of their singles matches winning.
After the long week for the Eagles with four matches in five days they will gear up to play Friday, March 13 against Marymount at 2:00 p.m. For the full women's CUI tennis schedule click
