VanderKlugt Named CoSIDA Academic All-District Selection

IRVINE, Calif. - Michaela VanderKlugt was named an Academic All-District honoree on Thursday by the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA).

She is one of five players from the NCAA DII West Region, which includes the CCAA, GNAC and PacWest Conference in District 8, to advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot.  NCAA DII Academic All-America honorees will be announced in late May.

VanderKlugt sports a 3.31 GPA as a biology major. She has averaged 16.6 points and 9.2 rebounds per game over the course of her career, and holds the school record for most rebounds in one game with 24.

The Antioch, Calif. native is the first CUI women's basketball player in the school's NCAA DII era to score 1,000 career points. She was named the PacWest Conference Player of the Week four times this past season in the Southern California pod. This included three times in a row, which had never happened before in the PacWest.

VanderKlugt was named to an All-PacWest team for the fourth year in a row. She made First Team All-Conference for the second straight time, after earning Second Team All-PacWest honors as a sophomore. She was the PacWest Freshman of the Year and Third Team All-Conference her first season at CUI.

In addition, she has been named Academic All-PacWest every year she has been at Concordia.

The 2020-21 Academic All-District Men's and Women's Basketball Teams, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. The CoSIDA Academic All-America program separately recognizes basketball honorees in four divisions — NCAA Division I, NCAA Division II, NCAA Division III and the NAIA.
