IRVINE, Calif. – The U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Association (USTFCCCA) announced its NCAA DII All-Academic Teams this week and both Concordia track and field teams met the bar in impressive fashion.
Both sets of Eagles maintained a cumulative team GPA of 3.0 or higher to make the cut. Plus, both the CUI men and women were among the top half of more than 100 NCAA Division 2 schools that were honored.
The men's team made it into the Top 30 at this level with a 3.296 Team GPA. The CUI women came together to post an impressive 3.494 GPA as a squad.
In addition, two top performers from the CUI women's track and field team, senior
Sarah Fajer and graduate student
Bailey Wade, were named USTFCCCA All-Academic Athletes.
Fajer notched a provisional national qualifying result in the shot put on home turf at the annual Team 4 Titus & Ely Invitational.
Wade also earned a provisional mark in the 3000m steeplechase at the Bryan Clay Invitational.
Here is the full criteria to be named to the USTFCCCA All-Academic List:
- Attain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.25 or higher
- Must have completed at least 24 semester hours/36 quarter hours at the institution through the end of the semester of competition.
- Achieved an automatic or provisional qualifying mark (individual or relay event) for the NCAA Indoor Track & Field Championships or the NCAA Outdoor Track & Field Championships for this school year.
