Reno, Nev. — The Concordia University Irvine track and field teams delivered strong performances across two days of competition at the Nevada Invitational, highlighted by multiple podium finishes and personal-best efforts on Friday and Saturday.
Friday Highlights
The women opened the meet in the one-mile run, where Ania Kapustka placed fifth with a time of 5:12.47, followed closely by Emma Timmermans, who finished eighth in 5:15.94.
On the men's side of the mile, Noah Plaza earned a runner-up finish, crossing the line in 4:15.08, while Spencer Handorf secured seventh place with a time of 4:26.15.
In the women's 1000-meter run, Olivia Reed captured first place with a winning time of 3:08.44.
Field events saw success as Trey Vergenz placed fourth in the men's weight throw, recording a mark of 17.79 meters. Max Castin added a sixth-place finish in the men's long jump with a leap of 6.96 meters.
Saturday Highlights
Saturday's competition brought more top finishes for the Golden Eagles. Max Castin continued his strong weekend with a fifth-place finish in the men's high jump, clearing 1.95 meters. Vergenz followed with a seventh-place showing in the men's shot put, throwing 14.95 meters.
In the women's high jump, Olivia Holmquist earned a second-place finish after clearing 1.72 meters.
The men's 4x400 relay team of Andrew Driver, Joshua Cambaliza, Logan Jones, and Spencer Handorf placed eighth overall.
Distance events closed the meet with standout performances. Noah Plaza claimed first place in the men's 3000-meter run, winning in 8:27.91, while Handorf followed with a third-place finish at 8:42.87. On the women's side, Emma Timmermans placed third in the 3000 meters with a time of 10:23.64, and Ania Kapustka finished fourth in 10:35.90.
