DALLAS, Texas – The Concordia University Irvine STUNT team finished the season with a strong push down the stretch with first a win on Senior Night and then a historic performance at NCAA DII Nationals.
After overcoming a 5-0 deficit against Hope International to win handily in their final home game, CUI put together five solid performances in Dallas, Texas to close out an exciting month of April.
Entering their first match in the Lone Star State as the No. 5 seed out of seven teams, the Golden Eagles walloped higher-seeded Ashland 20-4.  That set up a date with top-seeded Davenport. However the No. 1 seed had a superb performance to win 22-6 and move CUI to the elimination side of the bracket.
Concordia regrouped quickly on Friday and defeated No. 3 seed Maryville 16-11. Then they dominated no. 6 seed Dallas Baptist 19-8 to advance to Saturday's semifinal.
It was a rematch against Davenport and unfortunately for the Golden Eagles, they were the No. 1 seed for a reason. CUI battled but ultimately lost 23-7 to take third place.  It's the highest they've ever finished on this national stage.
Ultimately, Concordia went undefeated against schools not named Davenport University.  The three wins are the most for the CUI STUNT program at Nationals in the three years.
This is the last season at the club level for CUI as the STUNT program got the green light to move up to the NCAA level starting with the upcoming 2023-24 school year.
STUNT and also men's lacrosse earned approval to make the transition and now make it 21 NCAA-sponsored sports at Concordia starting in August. That is the most among all D2 schools up and down the west coast.
