IRVINE, Calif. - The Concordia University Irvine baseball team raked in one more impressive honor during the last week of July.

CUI is one of the programs receiving this year's ABCA Team Academic Excellence Award. In a long-standing tradition, the ABCA (American Baseball Coaches Association) proudly recognizes successful college and high school programs who excel both academically and on the field every summer.

To qualify for this award, teams had to meet the following criteria:
- Post a team cumulative GPA of 3.00 or higher during the 2022-23 academic year.
- Be a college team with a head coach that is a current ABCA member

The Golden Eagles qualified with a GPA just under 3.1 as a group.

Earlier this summer, the CUI baseball squad led all 13 eligible programs at the school with 32 Academic All-PacWest selections.

Four CUI baseball players were also honored as All-Conference selections by the PacWest Conference after the 2023 spring season came to a close.
