IRVINE, Calif. - An exciting time for women's lacrosse as the new rankings came out this past weekend, the Golden Eagles snuck into the top 20 WCLA DII rankings coming in at #19 for the first time in program history.
After those fresh rankings came out, the Golden Eagles faced off against Fullerton College on Wednesday in what was a very competitive matchup. Striking first, CUI built a solid lead from a multitude of plays and after the first quarter of play, the Golden Eagles led 5-1.
Throughout the first-half of play, CUI was putting on a show with flashy goals from players such as
Alex Strauch and
Lexi Miner, great saves from
Darby McGregor, and defensive stops from
Kennedi Tuliau and Adrianna Sanchez-Mendoza. Coming out of the half, Fullerton College closed the gap and came out hot scoring 4 goals in three minutes to make it a 9-5 game in the middle of the third.
After the offensive attack from the Hornets was over, the Golden Eagles struck back with a goal from
Lexi Miner to officially give her a hat trick for the game and help solidify a win for CUI. The final score for the game was 11-8.
