CUI Clashes Against The Toreros

IRVINE, Calif. - In a Saturday afternoon women's lacrosse game, the Golden Eagles took on the University of San Diego Toreros.

As both teams met in the middle for the opening draw, the centers threw the ball in the air and the game was started. The first team to make their move was USD. Not far behind the opening goal of the game, the Golden Eagles scored to make it a tie game 1-1 in the first two minutes of the first quarter.

The entirety of the game was exactly how the first quarter went. When one team would score, the other would answer right back with a goal of their own. Neither team could gain more than a two point advantage throughout the game and therefore made the end of the game very interesting.

The Golden Eagles had two great back-to-back goals around the 8th and 7th minute of the fourth quarter to put the team up 8-6. The Toreros attack was relentless and they made it a tie game with around two and a half minutes left to go in the game. Unfortunately for CUI there was a miscommunication on the Golden Eagles side of the field which led to a turnover and the deciding goal of the game.

Final score of the contest between the two competitive teams was 9-8.
