PHOENIX, Ariz. - The Concordia women's lacrosse team headed into the consolation bracket match for third place in the WWLL Conference Championship. The Golden Eagles were on the hunt for another win, hoping for an at-large bid to Nationals.
Initially, the game was close in the first quarter between the Cardinals and the Golden Eagles. Stanford pulled away and had a lead of four goals at one point. The Green and the Gold kicked into gear and climbed their way back to win it all, 13-11.
Samantha Gomez and Jessi Borton led Concordia's scoring throughout the match. Gomez captured three goals, and Borton tallied five goals.
"I'm proud of them for all of their hard work this season," graduate assistant Sarah Watts said. "It was a well-deserved win in conference. I learned a lot about the character of this team this weekend and I'm excited for the future of this team as well."
The Green and the Gold close out the weekend with a 2-1 record, capturing the third place spot in the WWLL Conference Championships.
