WICHITA, Kansas – The Concordia women's lacrosse team rekindled their fight and secured a victory on the final day of Nationals. Thanks to the golden triumph, the Golden Eagles placed eleventh at the WCLA National Championships.
Despite having a rough start in pool play, the Golden Eagles finished strong in the final match. Southern Methodist had also lost two games in pool play and was the main contender for the eleventh-place spot. The Golden Eagles were relentless against the Mustangs.
Lexi Miner was a force to reckon with for Concordia. The freshman attacker tallied an impressive five goals to add to the Golden Eagles' board. She contributed to the momentum in the match.
Following the freshman attacker, many Golden Eagles also got past the Mustangs' defense. Jessi Borton secured four goals, Mia Mongan three, and both Samantha Gomez and Melinda Ibanez scored two.
Clutch assists from Kennedi Tuliau and Riley Finch kept the Concordia offense moving.
By the end of the match, the Golden Eagles had secured eighteen goals against Southern Methodist, effectively capturing the lead and the win.
Over the course of the tournament, the Green and the Gold turned the tables and earned a golden victory for the final match of the season.
