Golden Eagles Hot Start Gets Simmered Down By Wildcats

IRVINE, Calif. - Heading into the competition, CUI has had an impressive season thus far with a 5-2 record and earning the #7 spot in the latest DII national poll. The Golden Eagles faced off versus the Kentucky Wildcats in a packed gym.

Entering the first quarter with partner stunts, the Golden Eagles looked confident and strong. The Wildcats earned the first point, but CUI had some key routines in mind to help them try and take the lead. Head coach Karli Shutt picked routine five and had some great success off just that one routine.

After the first quarter, the Golden Eagles held a two-point lead going into the second quarter, 3-1. The Wildcats were not backing down without a fight and came right back with two points of their own to tie the game up in the middle of the second quarter. Heading into the half, the Wildcats only held a slight advantage with a score of 6-3.

Coming back from the 10-minute half, the Golden Eagles found themselves in a tough battle against the D1 Wildcats.Eventually, CUI was bested by the Wildcats with a final score of 21-7.
