CUI Nets 200+ Academic All-PacWest Selections For Fifth Straight Time

Women's Track and Field Leads The Way With 40 Selections

IRVINE, Calif. – For the fifth straight summer, more than 200 Concordia University Irvine student-athletes that competed in PacWest Conference sports earned Academic All-PacWest honors.

220 total Golden Eagles turned in high marks in the classroom while also making an impact with their teams. To qualify, student-athletes must earn at least a 3.00 cumulative GPA during the 2025-26 academic year.

The CUI women's track and field team led all programs in that sport with 40 Academic All-PacWest selections. That was also the most among all Concordia sports.

Baseball championed 33 honorees and was led by recent PacWest Male Scholar-Athlete of the Year Wyatt Madison who holds a 4.0 GPA in engineering and was named a CSC Academic All-American. That's also the largest number for CUI baseball in one year in the program's NCAA D2 era.

The PacWest Champion softball team sported 20 Academic All-PacWest picks, led by All-Conference pitcher Kacie Gossett, who also owns a 4.0 GPA.

The men's track and field squad featured 29 honorees, while both Concordia soccer teams and also women's basketball saw at least a dozen student-athletes featured on the list.

Per the conference's award rules, members of the cross country teams were counted twice, as 27 Concordia student-athletes were also distance runners with their respective track and field teams.
As an entire league, the PacWest Conference boasted at least 2,700 student-athletes that made the cut for the second straight year.

*NOTE: Many of Concordia's teams do not compete in the PacWest Conference but in other leagues such as water polo (WWPA), men's lacrosse (RMAC), swim and dive (PCSC) and men's volleyball (MPSF). Those sports are traditionally included in other academic award announcements throughout the summer as other conferences stagger their academic announcements over a few months. Also, all NCAA DII-sponsored teams are eligible for the D2ADA Academic Award, which is always announced in the later half of the summer.
