IRVINE, Calif. - Concordia University Irvine's
Ghazal Pakbaten was recognized for her individual and team contributions over the past few matches as the new PacWest Conference Women's Tennis Player of the Week.
Pakbaten helped the Eagles earn wins over Cal State LA and Fresno Pacific by dominating as the top singles player. She cruised her way to victory 6-3, 6-2 against CSULA's Amanda Schneider and also cemented a point for the Eagles with her 6-0, 6-3 triumph over previously undefeated Marina Lex of FPU.
The junior from Mashhad, Iran also teamed with CUI senior
Johanna Keeline to post wins in the #2 doubles pairings against both the Golden Eagles and the Sunbirds. CUI won 4-3 over CSULA and
defeated Fresno Pacific by a count of 4-2.
Pakbaten and her teammates will face Villanova in their next home tennis match this Thursday, March 7 at 12 p.m. on campus.
