IRVINE, Calif. – The CUI women's lacrosse team finished off their successful run at the Santa Barbara Shootout with a dominant 18-0 victory over UC Davis, finishing the weekend with a perfect 4-0 record. The Golden Eagles wrapped up the weekend with a well-rounded performance, excelling on both offense and defense.

In the final game, CUI came out strong and quickly took control of the game, winning 18-0. Jessi Borton led the offense with 4 goals on 4 shots, and added 1 assist. Trinity Schelin also had a great performance, scoring 3 goals from 4 shots.
Courtney Miller, Sophia Lindall, Samantha Gomez, and Kayla Cimarusti each scored 2 goals, giving CUI a well-rounded offensive effort. The Golden Eagles' offense was fast and efficient, leaving UC Davis with little chance to get on the scoreboard.
Goalie Darby McGregor played a key role in the shutout, recording 4 saves and 4 clears. The defense worked together to keep UC Davis from finding any rhythm throughout the game.
"The coaching staff was really proud of the way our group came together this weekend and competed," said CUI head coach Dylan Miles."The Santa Barbara Shootout gives us the chance to play 4 games to kick off the season, and our team showed they were prepared to play. The group supported each other the entire way, and it showed."

Next Game
CUI will play their home opener on February 15th at 1:00 PM against UC San Diego. The Golden Eagles are excited to keep their strong play going and look forward to their first game at home this season.
