IRVINE, Calif. - It's time to pack those bags and get ready for an extra road trip to Hawaii.
That's because for the first time in program history, the Concordia University Irvine women's soccer team is heading to the NCAA DII Championships!
The Golden Eagles earned an at-large bid in the west region and celebrated the moment together during Monday's bracket announcement.
The Golden Eagles received a No. 5 seed and will face No. 4 seed Cal State Los Angeles on Thursday, Nov. 10 at 3 p.m. PT (12 p.m HT). The first playoff game for CUI in the NCAA DII era will be hosted by Hawai'i Hilo.
It's a rematch of a very close contest earlier this season when
Cal State LA eked out a 1-0 victory over CUI thanks to a penalty kick that was converted.
Top-seeded Hawai'i Hilo will host the first two rounds and if Concordia wins the battle of the Golden Eagles, the Vulcans will be lurking for another rematch with CUI on Saturday in the regional semifinal.Â
CUI lost 3-1 to Hilo in their conference showdown a few weeks ago in Irvine.Â

Recently named PacWest Player of the Week
Jadenn Carrillo scored against the Vulcans in the second half of that game. Carrillo was honored on Monday for the second time with that weekly award after scoring a hat trick in
CUI's 7-0 win over Academy of Art. She leads the squad with 10 goals and seven assists.
CUI posted an impressive 2-1-1 record against nationally-ranked opponents this season which strengthened their case in the regional rankings the last few weeks and down the stretch. The Green and Gold defeated Point Loma twice - including a 2-0 shutout win at home - in addition to earning a hard-fought draw at then-No. 10 Western Washington.
"We've worked hard for this and to see it come to light is really exciting," said senior and SAAC rep
Analisa Gjonovich. "I definitely think we have a really good feeling. I think a lot of us are a little surprised that our opponent is Cal State LA but it is a great scenario for a rematch."
"It's a great honor to be a part of this group and I think part of it is surreal," added
Riley Walkington, who is second on the team in goals. "This is something we've dreamed about growing up. We have a really talented group and I'm really proud of everyone."
Speaking of the Vikings, they are the No. 2 seed as Western Washington hosts the other side of the west regional bracket. The Vikings will face either Point Loma (No. 3 seed) or Sonoma State (No. 6 seed) after receiving a bye.
